Hi everyone!
My pup’s name is Nickie and she is a 9.5 year old certified mutt who recently was diagnosed with an aggressive mast cell tumor on her back leg. The doctors confirmed it has not spread, but they are amputating the leg to ensure the cancer does not spread anywhere else since it is located in the lymph nodes. There is no guarantee it won’t re-appear but they are doing what they can.
Nickie, affectionately known as “The Mama” or “Mama Bear” is a very sweet Rottweiler, Shar-Pei, Chow mix. Well actually, I don’t know what she really is, but everyone seems to agree on these three! đŸ™‚ She is very mild mannered and quiet, only giving kisses and PDA on her own terms. There are very few people that meet Nickie that don’t fall in love with her instantly! I also have a 5 year old black lab that Nickie treats as her own baby, but can sometimes be hyper and over-excited which could pose a challenge on Nickie’s recovery.
I found this community through my Surgeon’s website and am really glad to join the network. I have been emotionally up and down with all of this, as I am on my own. I am lucky to have my mom coming up from out of town for 2 weeks (or more if I need her longer!) to help with recovery.
I look forward to chatting with everyone. Without further adue, here is myself and the infamous “Mama Bear!”
